I know, it’s been a long time coming but the nic shot option is (finally) here. The site’ll be updated over the next few days to make it a bit prettier and easier to use, but I wanted to put in a quick Q&A to hopefully answer any questions about them you might have
What’s a nic shot?
A nicotine shot is a 10ml bottle of unflavoured high % nicotine eliquid that can be added to larger bottles of eliquid that don’t contain nicotine to bring them to the nicotine percentage you’d like them to be. GET YOUR NIC SHOTS HERE
What’s a short fill?
A short fill is a bottle of eliquid that is deliberately underfilled to allow you to add extra eliquid afterwards. It’s done that way so that larger bottles of eliquid with no nicotine can have nicotine shots added in afterwards. Shortfills come in 2x30ml (60ml total) or 120ml bottles
What’s the point?
The TPD/TRPR legislation which came into effect last year limited the nicotine percentage for any nicotine containing eliquid to 20mg, with a maximum bottle size of 10ml. It also restricted any eliquid which contains nicotine at any percentage to a maximum volume of 10ml. Adding a nic shot to a bottle of zero nicotine eliquid will allow you to end up with a volume of eliquid larger than 10ml while still having the required nicotine content
Will that not dilute the flavour?
No. Short fill bottles have enough flavour concentrate in them to reach the original flavour percentage once the nic shots are added. If you vaped short fill eliquid without adding nic shots (or PG/VG), it’d be considerably stronger than the regular eliquid – they’re designed to have additional liquid added to them
How do I use it?
It’s pretty simple – unscrew the cap, remove the tip and add the nic shot. Replace the tip and cap, give the bottle a healthy shake and leave it a while. The reason for leaving it is to allow the added nic shot to disperse evenly throughout the eliquid – some people will say you can ‘shake and vape’, but homogenisation doesn’t work like that, especially with a thicker liquid like VG. I’d recommend giving it 24 hours at least to make sure you don’t end up vaping a high nic ‘hot spot’. Depending on which ‘Target nic’ option you choose, the bottle will be short filled to accomodate that, so just fill the remaining space with your nic shot (there should be a little space left to allow the eliquid space to be shaken about)
How many nic shots do I need?
The table below shows how many you’ll need per short fill bottle option and how much space is left per bottle to allow you to add your nic shots:
3mg | 6mg | |
60ml shortfill | 1 nic shot (10ml) | 2 nic shots(20ml) |
120ml shortfill | 2 nic shots (20ml) | 4 nic shots (40ml) |
Do I need to order nic shots here?
No, not at all. If you have another supplier you’d rather use, that’s no problem. The option is there to select ‘zero’ amount of nic shots – short fill eliquid will still be sent with the required space left in the bottle to add your own nic shots based on the ‘Target nic’ chosen. We’re using 18mg VG based nic shots – if you use higher or lower percentage nic shots, the overall end percentage of nicotine of your eliquid will also be a little higher or lower. If you do want to use your own nic shots and the nicotine percentage is different, you can work out the exact end percentage here
Why does it only go up to 6mg?
Because it’d end up being unaffordable to add nic shots to get to 12mg and beyond – we’re reselling Darkstar nic shots at little more than cost, but the more shots you add, the dearer it gets. One of the points of Daddy Pig Smoke Juice was to sell really tasty juice without breaking the bank, and with the new vaping regulations our government have set out, that’s not really possible anymore when you get into higher nic percentages. I know that doesn’t help the people who need that and I’m truly sorry that the new regulations make it that way π
I have my own 72mg nic from before TPD – can I add that instead of nic shots?
Certainly – if you want to add that, leave a note in your order to let me know (and to let me know which nicotine percentage you’re aiming for) and I’ll be sure to leave the required amount of space. Happy to help π
I vape zero nic – I don’t need this
Don’t worry – 30ml bottles are all still Zero Nic, and if you’d prefer 60 or 120ml of zero nic, the option is there to choose ‘Zero Nic’ as your target nic %
I have a question you haven’t answered
I’m really sorry about that – if you don’t mind leaving a comment below or dropping me a line, I’ll answer it the moment I get a chance. Just let me know π
Happy vaping!
How come short fills are only available in max VG?
Hi Jon
2 reasons – 1) demand, 2) simplicity. I’d been asked about Max VG for such a long time that it just made sense, and from this end it’s also a bit easier to manage when we’re using 100VG nic shots.
That said, there have been a few requests for 30/70 and 50/50 shortfills. 30/70 is no problem (just requires a bit of tweaking), so if you need that, pop a note in your order and it shall be so π
50/50 means stocking a new batch of nic shots so right now it’s not doable (the closest is 45/55 with 100% VG nic shots), but you’re right – there should be more options available, so it will be available very shortly (pending a restock)
Hope that helps π
Happy to help π We’re both up very late!
Hope you’re well
Whoops! Didn’t mean to post my full name. Could you delete the above comment please.
Thank you for your super prompt reply and service as always.
Will be placing an order soon. π
Done π
Hope you’re well!
Just placing an order now, just confirming the options.
2x30ml Short Fill
Max VG with a note for 30/70 PG/VG
3mg
Do I select 1 shot or 2 shots? And that should give me 2x30ml total volume filled end product right?
One quick (and possibly stupid) question prompted by this comment.
Now that the shop is offering multiple options for VG/PG ratio, are those figures also factoring in 100% VG nicotine shots (for, say, a finished ratio of 70/30)? Or are the ratios listed for the shortfill base alone, as usual with commercial shortfills?
That would be what I would normally expect, but you do offer more customization, so it seemed better to ask.
Mostly wondering since I wanted to be sure of what to order to get the desired finished ratio after adding nicotine in a different base.
Thanks in advance!
Hi Urocyon π
The shortfills are formulated to be at the desired PG/VG ratio after the nic shots are added, so if you order a 120ml 30/70 PG/VG at 6mg for example, the juice in the shortfill would be higher in PG to accommodate the higher VG nic shots, meaning that the end results with nic shots added is 30/70 (or whatever ratio you choose).
If you’d prefer to use your own nic shots, the end result may be slightly higher or lower depending on the PG/VG ratio of your nic shots, though the variance should be small enough to be negligible (there’s not really a lot of difference between 30/70 and 35/65) in practice). But if you order a 50/50 or 30/70 blend, that’s how the juice will be when it’s vaped
Hope that helps!
Hi Jon
You’d just need the one nic shot to end up with 3mg across the 2x30ml total. There’ll be 5ml space left in each bottle to allow you room to add the nic shot π
Hello ,
May I ask whether your products are made by yourselves or from other companies
Hi Wendy
Everything on the site here is made here, all original juice! Hope you’re well π
Hi Nathan, really impressed by your eliquids. I have tried about half a dozen flavours. I’m a strange case because although I smoked for many years I can honestly say I don’t really like the taste of tobacco, (Tragic, I know). On the other hand most eliquids taste too sweet after a while. My favourite so far is melony grapapeiths. What should I try next? Also, have you ever tried to make an espresso coffee flavour – I think I would love that. Brgds
Hi Eric, oh I’m really pleased you’re enjoying them π Emm, if you’re into the fruitier flavours that aren’t overly sweet you might enjoy Dragonberry (strawberry, dragonfruit, apple, very light flavour) or Such A Fruit, both of those are in the same sort of profile as Melony Grapeiths.
I have not tried to make an espresso flavour but I do love those… You’ve just given me an idea. Watch this space!
Cheers Eric
Is your product safe? Compared to products from here in the U.S.? I’m looking to buy from you being how the U.K has not had the hazards from vaping that we have. Im wondering if youve been verified by the MHRA?
Hi Val. Our juice is as safe as any other responsibly manufactured eliquid. We conform to the required EU standards to produce responsible, ethically made eliquid with no unnecessary ingredients – vaping is about harm reduction and that’s an ethos we stand by.
The recent US vape news articles and reports have been based around cannabis related vape cartridges and additives in those cartridges that were found to contain oils that lungs can’t clear out. We don’t deal with cannabis (it’s illegal over here) and we never use oils, ever.
The Royal College of Physicians and the UK’s NHS both state that vaping is 95% less harmful than smoking, and we have been serving ex-smokers a delicious alternative for around 5 years now. But I understand your concerns. It’s been a scary week with the news stories coming out.
If you do decide to order, you should know that our eliquid contains PG/VG/flavouring and nothing more. It’s designed to be tasty and curb that itch to smoke. There’s nothing in there that doesn’t need to be there
Hi! I’m looking to purchase a 30ml juice, I dont need nic, but do I still need to add 10ml zero nic to the bottle or is the 30ml ready to vape?
Thanks π
Hi Jessica! The 30ml bottles are all zero nic and are ready to vape – no need to add nic to them if you don’t need it π
Hi, silly question I know but was wondering if max vg meant 100%vg as I can’t vape any pg due to allergies.
Many thanks
